Vision was a club night that began in March 1990. Hosted at the Angels Nitespot on Curzon St. Burnley, Lancashire. Initially held on a Friday, it interchanged with Saturdays, a single Wednesday and rebranded into OrgaZm for a short period. The night developed from a group of local DJs playing more dance-oriented music on a Tuesday and Thursday night to a crowd that was more accustomed to the Indie / Madchester sound. Taking note of this promoter, Mark Balko, club owners Alan Durkin / Steve Farkas and resident DJ Paul Taylor formed the Vision brand.
The first move was to commission DJ Marcus Kaye, later to become known as Marcus Intalex, to play Friday nights. Marcus had established his reputation for being both upfront with his selection and having a tight mixing style, both at Monroes in Great Harwood and various nights held in Burnley and surrounding areas dating back to 1988. The booking policy was upfront and influenced by the small but fiercely loyal crowd that had solid tastes, access to London / Manchester pirate radio tapes, numerous record shops and a no-bullshit attitude. Set against the backdrop of a post-industrial wasteland; at the turn of a decade that had ended with the first summer of love and the warehouse party declaration of freedom from rule; the foundation was set for a cultural movement that was to change us, the shape of our town and unknown to us then; the future of dance music...
